Daniel (Love Forty Down)

SPB: What is the meaning behind the band name?

Daniel: Our band name is quite obviously a reference to a Frank Turner song. Love Forty Down is the score in a tennis match (0:40). It means, that our opponent is only missing one point to win the game but we have not lost quite yet. The order of the score indicates, that it is our turn to serve and our chance to turn the game around. And that's exactly what we liked about the name. Although we have no ties to tennis whatsoever, we quite liked the metaphorical sense that even though the situation looks dire, not everything is lost yet.

Don't Be A Stranger EP
SBÄM Records (2022)

I don’t come across a lot of punk bands with “love” in their name. Whether it’s justified or not, that led me to expect something a bit more dramatic and heart-on-sleeve than this. The music is more post-hardcore meets melodic punk, a la Hot Water Music meets Iron Chic. It’s built around singalong, harmonized choruses with some build-up and progressions … Read more
