Mike Terry (Jukebox Romantics – vocals/guitar)

SPB: How nervous were you the first time you played a live show?

Terry: The first show I ever played was a basement show. It was basically inviting people over to our band practice in our drummer‘s basement on a Friday afternoon and too many people found out because we were basically the only band in town. All of these people showed up and it was more excitement than nerves. I was 14 and I’d say my nervousness was probably more about the girls that were going to be there and not whether anybody liked our music or about my musical abilities. It was going to be a super forgiving crowd of middle and high school kids just amped to be around music.
