Grotesque Misalignment

SPB: What stands out the most to you when you listen to your early/first recordings?

Grotesque Misalignment: I think an earnestness to do something different is probably what I hear. I think from the outset I've really just wanted to create something unique -- my first EP has some odd backwards talking, margarita glasses used to create ambience, doomy riffs, thrash riffs, death riffs, a bunch of tremolo picking and a whole ton more, besides. In fact, the album I just released is an earlier recording than the EP and is more jarringly odd. It opens with xylophones and a funk riff, rapidly descending to some stark bass 8-string lines and then chaos! Does it work? Who knows! Does it sound like I really just want to do something interesting? Absolutely.
