Good Riddance

Russ (Good Riddance)

SPB: What do you remember of playing your first live show?

Russ: I remember it being euphoric, the sense of watching people move and go crazy to the music my band was playing.

We weren’t very good at our instruments then, but it didn’t seem to matter.

Almost our entire set consisted of Sex Pistols covers I’d cajoled the others into playing, but it still felt like it was our music, our show.

I remember we ran out of songs, but we didn’t want to stop playing, and we couldn’t wait to do it again.

Peace In Our Time
Fat Wreck Chords (2015)

Peace in Our Time is an album that seemed like it was never going to be released. Good Riddance's breakup in 2007 appeared to be final. Younger listeners such as myself, who discovered the band around this time, had to come to terms with never hearing new music from the band nor having the opportunity to see them perform live. … Read more

Remain in Memory: The Last Show
Fat Wreck Chords (2008)

Good Riddance has always been just another one of those "Fat" bands that started in the early 90's and put out album after album well into the next decade. I never was into Good Riddance past their first album God and Country and really haven't paid them any attention since Dave Wagenschutz stopped drumming for them. Anyway, Good Riddance decides … Read more

My Republic
Fat Wreck Chords (2006)

The opening of My Republic could easily be mistaken for the opening to just about any guitar based album from the past 30 years, with quietly plucked single notes pushing along for a moment or two. It is only as "Out of Mind" explodes into the best Bad Religion song since Mr. Brett left the band for the first time … Read more

Tommy Colliton (Curse Words) SPB: What is the most tiresome stereotype about punk rock? Colliton: I find one of the most tiresome stereotypes would be that punk has to be yelling angry, aggressive lyrics. While there’s plenty to be pissed off about and it’s rather cathartic yelling along in a … Read more

David Jarnstrom (Rad Owl) SPB: What was the inspiration in starting this band? A midlife crisis? Jarnstrom: In all seriousness, Rad Owl was a bit of a nostalgia trip at first. We were childhood friends who had grown up discovering metal and punk rock and hardcore together in the late … Read more
