Steven Fairweather (Gob)

SPB: How many people mispronounce your name as an Arrested Development reference?

Fairweather: HAHA! Not too many actually! I’m sure it’s maybe more of an issue when Googling the band. But we were once out on a run of shows with a band called “Seaway,” so for a gig poster we used a photo of Gob Bluth from Arrested Development on a Segway,  “ GOB + SEAWAY, playing tonight!!” -- not sure how many people got that.

The origins of our band name are still somewhat a mystery; sometimes the guys say it was inspired by an infamous 1993 -- the same year Gob was forming --  gig of Bad Religion and a then-up-and-coming Green Day, where the singer Billy Joe got the entire venue to spit on him on stage, and sometimes the reason-giving  is as simple as realizing not many punk bands started with the letter “g.”
