Kim Kelly (Catharsis PR, writer)
SPB: How did you first get involved in PR work?
Kelly: It happened pretty organically. By the time I decided to try my hand at PR, I'd already been writing for a variety of publications for a good four years so I had an inkling of how it all worked. As a writer, I'd also sussed out the kind of publicist I did not want to be by learning from others' mistakes! I got the idea to start Catharsis PR in 2008 during a summer internship; two of the first few bands went on to be roaring successes in their genres, so it made sense to keep going, and see how far I could take it. It's been five years, and while I've learned a lot and gotten a few bumps and scrapes along the way, I'm very happy with how things have turned out.
