Jake Robertson (Alien Nosejob)
SPB: What was the inspiration to start Alien Nosejob?
Robertson: I listen to a lot of different types of music, but often bands are restricted to one style. I love hanging out with friends at the pub and band practice and all that, but I also have a fondness for locking myself in a room with no natural light and doing repetitive things for hours on end (be careful what you wish for -- right?). Alien Nosejob was originally intended to just be an EP that was influenced by the kinds of bands represented on the Wallaby Beat blog and a folk rocky-pop mess that ended up being the first album, but I just kept doing it. I find that zoning out and writing, recording and mixing these tunes is cathartic. If I go a couple of weeks without doing it I start to feel really weird and anxious, like I'm outside of my own body. Perhaps I need another hobby and should try exercising?
