Aidan Baker (Nadja)
What are your top five albums that were released in 2011? (in order 1-5)

Grouper - A | A: Alien Observer & Dream Loss (Yellow Electric)
OvO - Cor Cordium (Supernatural Cat)
Deaf Center - Owl Splinters (Type Records)
Psychic Paramount - II (No Quarter)
What band did you discover in 2011 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
I don't remember where or when exactly this year I heard Brise Glace's When In Vanitas (Skin Graft Records), and I've never listened to Jim O'Rourke all that much (apart from Gastr del Sol's Camofleur), but When In Vanitas was something that stuck with me and I ended up listening to it a lot this year. Even though it was released in the early 90s, its noisy and abrasive electronic art rock (or whatever you want to call it) still sounds quite current and relevant today.
How will you remember 2011 (in terms of music)?
Sharing a stage at a festival with the original 1985 line-up of Corrosion of Conformity. I wore out my cassette copy of Animosity when I was a kid…
What can we look forward to from you in 2012?
I have a new solo album called The Spectrum of Distraction on Robotic Empire with contributions from 18 different drummers. Nadja will have a 2CD compilation of viny-only/rare tracks with Important Records called Excision and a new full-length whenever we get around to finishing it.
What records are you looking forward to most in 2012?
The Codeine reissues/box-set on Numero Group.
What did you expect to be huge in 2011 which never made it?
I don't really have expectations like that about music -- everything I think should be huge never is so I've stopped thinking that way.
