Only Thunder (Justin Hackl)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Converge - Axe To Fall

  2. Baroness - Blue Record

  3. Isis - Wavering Radiant

  4. Future Of The Left - Travels With Myself And Others

  5. Propagandhi - Supporting Caste

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Future of the Left. Just the raw snottiness of it. The lyrics are hilarious. They were funny as hell live too.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

Boring. In all honesty, nothing really grabbed me the way a lot of other albums do. I listened to Black Flag, Neurosis, and Torche more than anything.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

Small Brown Bike was awesome. I'd like to see Samiam in Denver one more time. They never really broke up, but they never tour the states. And hey, I don't blame them.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

A couple of split 7"s and an EP. Maybe a full-length. Depends on how hard we feel like working. Andy is in another band called Tin Horn Prayer and I'm in another band called Trees, plus I run my own custom/repair guitar shop. So life continues to be busy.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

I don't pay much attention. Small Brown Bike is supposed to be releasing new stuff. That will be fun.
