No Use For A Name

(Tony Sly)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Wilco - Wilco

  2. Teenage Bottlerocket - They Came from the Shadows

  3. The Killers - Day and Age

  4. The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound

  5. Conor Oberst - Conor Oberst

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

I love the Gaslight Anthem. They're a flat out great rock band.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

I spent a lot of time touring and writing for various things, so for me it was pretty musical.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

I saw The Pixies on stage two times at European festivals we played, their songs made everyone else's songs shitty. I hope that Jawbreaker, the Misfits, Minor Threat, and Black Flag would do reunions.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

A solo record on Fat Wreck called "12 Song Program" and some touring on that. I want to write some No Use for a Name stuff too.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

My solo record just because it's exciting and new. The Swingin' Utters because they are rad. And the next Cohen Brothers movie.

The Arrivals have been a band for 30 years -- though they’ve made us wait 16 years for the follow-up to 2010’s Volatile Molotov. While a ton of time has passed and the band has moved, literally in some cases, and raised children in others, their sound is still the … Read more
