SPB: What was your favorite release of your label in 2006 (including anything that will be released by the end of the year)? Why?

Sunn 0)))/Boris - Altar. It was a great honor and a challenging project. The final result exceeded all our expectations. It is an album Im not only proud of being part of the creative process of but also to have in the Southern Lord catalog.

SPB: How will you remember 2006? (in terms of music)

The rise of Boris. Also the Sunn/Earth European tour earlier in 2006 was very memorable.

SPB: What do you see as the role of labels in 2007 and beyond?

I guess to just continue to do what we do. I hope we can continue our relationships with bands weve been working with for awhile now and be effective for the new artists we are working with.

SPB: Top five releases of 2006? (not on your label)

  1. Om - Conference of the Birds
  2. Brightblack Morning Light - S/T
  3. Celtic Frost - Monotheist
  4. Scott Walker - The Drift
  5. Wolves In The Throne Room - Diadem of 12 Stars

SPB: Any previews/hints/facts of what you will be releasing in 2007?

We will be releasing new albums from The Hidden Hand, sunn 0))), Striborg and Earth as well as debut releases from: Orcustus, Glorior Belli, Grave Temple Trio (Stephen OMalley, Attila Csihar, Oren Ambarchi) as well as re-issues of : Asbestos Death, vinyl releases from: Velvet Cacoon, Wolves in The Throne Room etc.. and of course many many other projects are in the works.

SPB: Whats your main goal of 2007 (labelwise)?

To continue and maintain the massive amount of growth we experienced in 2006.

SPB: Predictions of trends in 2007 (music related (and more if you want))?

Im honestly not concerned with trends.
