Nathan Burke

Scene Point Blank: What are your top five albums that were released in 2007?

  1. Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters
  2. Thrice - The Alchemy Index Vol. 1
  3. Battles - Mirrored
  4. The Good, The Bad and The Queen - The Good, The Bad and The Queen
  5. Echospace - The Coldest Season

Scene Point Blank: How will you remember 2007? (In terms of music)

Mostly in terms of the fact that I finally finished a record I had been working on for almost five years.

Scene Point Blank: What kind of impact do you think donation-based releases like Radiohead, Saul Williams, etc? will have on the record industry?

Hopefully it will force labels to re-evaluate how they do a lot of things?if not someone quicker and sharper and more adapted to change will come along and make them even more obsolete. Whatever happens I hope it creates and environment for standout artists to make a living at their trade.

Scene Point Blank: 2007 saw the decommissioning of two prominent file-sharing groups - Demonoid and Oink. What kind of impact will the increased crackdown on file-sharing have on the record industry? Did it personally have an effect on you?

The kids are usually smarter than the corporations. They'll just figure something else out. No affect on me that I can see as of yet.

Scene Point Blank: What can we look forward to from your band in 2008?

A full-length release! Maybe some shows if it makes sense to do so?

Scene Point Blank: What three records are you looking forward to most in 2008?

Thrice - The Alchemy Index Vol. 2, hopefully a new Boards of Canada album, and a new Led Zeppelin record!?
