Five More Records to Look Forward To

SPB Year In Review 20091. Alkaline Trio - This Addiction

They're looking for a big rebound after Agony & Irony and they might just get it since this album was produced by none other than Matt Allison, who worked on their earlier records. This is also being released on the band's own record label. The band has stated that they wanted to make a punk record again and recorded this album earlier in the year with its release date being in February 2010. All signs point to something great and if you have any doubt, there's a clip of the title-track available online and it should get fans of the older Alkaline Trio stoked.

2. Jimmy Eat World - TBA

After finishing up the Clarity tour, the band was working with their old producer, Mark Trombino on some new songs and plan to have a new record in 2010. Seeing how I've enjoyed all of their releases, I'm pretty excited to hear some new music from them. I thought Chase This Light was a solid record, but I'm hoping this new album has some more staying power.

3. None More Black - TBA

Yep, they're back! They spent most of 2009 touring and writing their long-awaited third album. We already expect greatness from Jason Shevchuk given his work with Kid Dynamite. While I enjoyed the LaGecia album quite a bit, it wasn't a suitable replacement for None More Black. Being a huge fan of This is Satire, I was very excited when I heard that they were writing a new album and I am heavily anticipating it's release whenever that is next year.

4. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Operation Paralysis

I know there are a lot of mixed feelings towards the last couple of Dillinger Escape Plan records, but I'm going to go into Operation Paralysis with an open mind. I was a fan of Ire Works but I felt it was a bit weak compared to their other releases, so I'm hoping that Operation Paralysis brings a bit more to the table. If not, then we can hope that the songs work well in a live setting since these guys always put on one hell of a show.

5. The Gaslight Anthem - TBA

Expectations are very high for The Gaslight Anthem's follow-up to The '59 Sound, which was on just about everyone's "Best Of" lists in 2008. They'll be entering the studio at the beginning in 2010, working with producer, Ted Hutt again. Not sure what to expect after how much they blew up with The '59 Sound. What direction will they go in? Will they alter their sound at all? Those questions will be answered very soon since this album will hopefully be released before year's end.
