  1. Stars of the Lid - Stars of the Lid and Their Refinement of the Decline (Kranky) - April 2nd

  2. When I heard Stars of the Lid were finally going to follow up their masterpiece "The Tired Sounds Of" after six years, I nearly jumped out of my seat. Their new album, Stars of the Lid and the Refinement of the Decline will be another double-disc effort and will finally fill the void that no other ambient act has been able to. Well, besides, Brian McBride's solo album and Adam Wiltzie's audio/visual act The Dead Texan.

  3. Eluvium - Copia (Temporary Residence) - February 20th

  4. Eluvium is one of those artists whom just cannot do any wrong. Eluvium, the moniker of Matthew Cooper, has released several albums since 2003's debut Lambent Material and has shown his musical prowess more and more with each release. If this year's E.P. When I Live By the Garden and the Sea is any indication, expect more layers of guitar upon guitar with more piano backed pieces.

  5. Shellac - Excellent Italian Greyhound (Touch & Go) - TBA

  6. It's Shellac! Of course I'm excited. Albini has said not to expect some sort of huge departure, which is quite refreshing in this day and age where every band is trying to become bigger and more complicated with each release. While no release date has been announced, the album is completely in the can and should see a release on Touch & Go sometime in 2007. Now hopefully we can get a tour out of them!

  7. The Cancer Conspiracy - ? (Gilead Media / Radar Recordings) - TBA

  8. After being delayed for years and years, The Cancer Conspiracy's final hurrah is at long last seeing the light of day. ? is the follow up to The Audio Medium which continues to be one of the most overlooked release of the last ten years. Hopefully with the resurgence of instrumental music the Cancer Conspiracy will finally get the attention they deserved.

  9. The One A.M. Radio - This Too Will Pass (Dangerbird) - February 20th

  10. Hrishikesh Hirway's The One A.M. Radio is one of those bands I have not understood why he/they are not absolutely huge. I have a feeling 2007 will be a breakout year. With a new label in Dangerbird and now a Pontiac commercial under his belt, This Too Will Pass is surely to be an excellent follow-up to 2005's A Name Writ in Water.

Other Artists Releasing Anticipated Records in '07: Tarentel, Byla & Jarboe, Seaworthy & Sébastien Roux, Do Make Say Think, Amiina, Battles, Common, Jodi Cave, Rameses III, Ruiner, Verse En Coma, Ghastly City Sleep, Deerhunter, Pig Destroyer, The Drift, Toe, Pissed Jeans.
