The second installment of Dave Hause's 7-inch series comes from Bridge Nine. Lots of interesting choices for Hause to choose songs to cover from. In the end, he settled on Strike Anywhere and The Trouble. We'll get to that in a bit. First, lets reflect on the renditions of his own, "Pray For Tucson" and "Years From Now." This new take of "Years From Now" doesn't really offer anything different. The EP version of "Pray For Tucson" on the other hand gives the song a little more grit. Dave's a little more forceful and passionate with his vocals this time around.

The first cover is of The Trouble's, "We Are The Blood." What was he going to do with this one? Well, he took the track and turned it into a sort of sprechstimme. It's demented and works perfectly. The only problem is it's kind of boring. Some will like it, some won't. I thought it was a great idea though. Last, is a cover of Strike Anywhere's, "First Will and Testament." It's a pretty straightforward acoustic cover. Hause's emotion put behind his performance gives you the impression he wrote the song himself. It's quite affective.

We’re close to the end of Dave Hause’s 7-inch series. The fourth in the series comes from Sabot Productions. It’s a beautiful one at that, but it’s probably … Read more
