I grew up on 90's hardcore, so when I hear new band's drawing influence from that era I get excited. Atlanta's Foundation does just that and this new EP is a welcome addition to my collection of present day bands paying homage to the 90's.

“Fireproof” sets the tone with heavy metallic hardcore on the 90's tip - think Unbroken meets Trial. The title-track follows and reminds me a bit of No Warning's first LP. It's got a great groove to it and an excellent breakdown. “Heartless” also has a great breakdown; the kids eat it up at shows. Lyrically, Foundation shares a lot with their 90's influences: personal touches to topics that concern the everyday life of the individual.

The CD version of this release also contains the two songs from the band's recent split 7” with Meantime. These songs again demonstrate influence from the 90's metallic hardcore scene. Included as well are three songs from the self-titled 7” that started it all. A great way to complete your collection if you never picked it up.

Foundation's first EP was good and they've continued to progress in a positive direction. The new songs are their best material so far and I have great hope for a full-length in the near future.
