Insurrect – Fucking Infinity — 2012, 2008

I've lived in Cleveland for most of my life and I've come to know the city as quite the haven for metal. I guess there is just something about this city that breeds the urge to grab a guitar and tear it up. Insurrect is easily the best-kept secret of Cleveland's metal scene. But, while other bands have garnered much greater attention, these metalheads are just as deserving.

Fucking Infinity is the band's debut offering, a seven-song near-forty minute slab of wax filled with an unrelenting metal attack that'll have even the most uptight hipster thrashing with the longhairs. The record boasts cut after cut of classic black metal that is accented with influence from thrash, death metal, and NWOBHM titans Iron Maiden. Insurrect sure do shred, coming off like a faster and more venomous version of Shadows Fall. By the time this album is over you'll be drenched in sweat and dizzy from all the headbanging.

With the release of Fucking Infinity Insurrect have unleashed themselves onto the masses. While the limited available of this vinyl may hinder the band's notice initially, their determination to join the ranks of their influences will undoubtedly bring them the recognition they deserve.

Jungle Rot

Cruel Face Of War
Unique Leader (2026)

Twelve albums and more than three decades into their career, Jungle Rot remains one of death metal's most reliable institutions. While countless bands have spent years chasing technical excess, progressive experimentation, or whatever trend happens to be dominating the underground now, the Kenosha veterans have remained committed to a simpler mission. Writing memorable riffs, locking into crushing grooves, and leaving … Read more

Overcalc

Fruits of the Decision Tree
Sleeping Giant Glossolalia (2024)

Some instrumental records create atmosphere while others create movement. Fruits of the Decision Tree feels like it creates an entire environment. It’s unstable, mechanical, strangely beautiful, and constantly in motion. The solo project of Nick Skrobisz (Multicult, The Wayward), Overcalc exists somewhere between electronic experimentation, prog-level guitar precision, ambient drift, and full on sci-fi hallucination. Trying to pin it cleanly … Read more
