This Louisiana/Tennessee metal conglomerate has a fairly funny yet juvenile name that is likely a huge hit with the faux-hardcore kids. But rather than live off of namesake alone, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza can actually write a good song or two.

Danza II: The Electric Boogaloo is the band's second full-length and third overall release. Since releasing their self-titled affair in 2005, the band has moved up to Metal Blade subsidiary, Black Market Activities. The band's mixtures of technical metal, grindcore, hardcore, and southern rock are very fitting to their label home. There is no denying that The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza is heavy. You also can't deny their abilities - guitarists Layne Meylain and Brad Thomson use every inch of their guitars' fretboard and drummer Mason Crooks is well honed in his drumming duties. Where the band fails is that their music is fairly predictable and generic. Most every song on this album reminds me of Burnt by the Sun - oftentimes I forgot that I wasn't listening to them. Despite my evaluation as generic paint-by-numbers technical metalcore, Danza II will likely bring the band a fair amount of success in the metal world.

Pure Intentions
Independent (2026)

Pure Intentions is a hard hitting punk band first emerging in the Chicago scene in 2020. Since its formation by Joe Asshole and Tommy Volume, they have since added Judson Jones in 2024 to become its current standing trio. During that time, these guys have spread their gritty sound by touring the United States while gaining a strong following along … Read more

Red Asphalt
Relapse (2026)

There are few bands in extreme metal who understand their own lane as well as Exhumed. For nearly three decades, Matt Harvey and company have made gore feel theatrical, technicality feel fun, and deathgrind feel almost celebratory. Red Asphalt doesn’t rewrite that formula but weaponizes it, straps it into the driver’s seat, and floors the accelerator straight into oncoming traffic. … Read more

Lub Dub
Dirt Cult (2026)

Ok full disclosure, I sung backups on (allegedly) three of these songs and one song is a cover (albeit a stretch lol) of a song I co-wrote. What can I say tho? I was a fan of The Dumpies from the get go, before we all became very close friends and constant tour mates! Dub music diehards might be a … Read more
