Promo Submissions

Scene Point Blank is a webzine, established in 2003 and 100 percent independent ever since. We have reviewed more than 5000 records so far.

We cover punk, hardcore, indie, metal, and more. Music motivates us, giving more joy during life’s highs and providing escape through the lowpoints.

While SPB doesn’t subscribe to strict genre limitations (and we often find them silly), we enjoy heavy, experimental, melodic, and aggressive vices, and we believe that music (and really any of the arts) is subjective. It is best when enjoyed from a fan’s point of view.

What Do We Review?

We will review EPs, LPs, reissues, and any release that is publicly available for purchase. We do not review one-off songs that only exist as a digital stream. We review new releases, released within the past 12 months. We will review reissues and reprints but typically only if the reissue varies notably from previous editions.

While we’re open to most styles, we are also a small team with limited time and resources. We receive thousands of submissions and our focus is to deliver in-depth, quality and quantitative reviews. This takes time, which means we cannot cover everything we receive due to personal time limitations. Quality requires time and heart.

How Do I Submit A Promo?

We accept promo submissions online or physical formats the old fashioned way, in the mail.

Submitting Promos

There are two ways to submit.

Digital Submissions

Do NOT submit through both platforms or it defeats the purpose. We have a limited staff. Any time-saver helps.

Physical Submissions

We also accept physical promos through the mail at:

Scene Point Blank
℅ Loren Green
5624 35th Avenue S
Minneapolis, MN  55417
USA

When submitting, DO NOT do any of the following:

  • Do not submit to both the human and automated inbox addressed.
  • Do not send attachments unless we personally request them.
  • Follow-up inquiries are unnecessary. We got your first email.

Can I Get An Interview, Feature Or Stream?

Similar to our reviews, our staff picks what they can cover. But if you have ideas and you’re available, reach out to our editorial team at editor@scenepointblank.com.

What If I Don’t Hear Back?

Due to limited staff and the sheer volume of promos we receive -- both digitally and physical items -- we cannot guarantee coverage. What sets Scene Point Blank apart is that we take time and give longer, thoughtful reviews. We truly listen to your record. Because of this, we have to pick and choose what we cover. Want to increase your odds? We love personal emails and handwritten letters that show the people behind the project.

We try to contact everyone that is reviewed, but we are human and oversights and mistakes will happen. Please visit the site regularly and follow us on social media to see if we’ve covered you.
